Simon Greiner Program Runners Invited to Special Virtual Q&A With Sinclaire Johnson

The end of the school year should have been an exciting time for our Simon Greiner Track & Field Program athletes. Springtime is usually filled with graduations, important races and many other celebrations. However, the COVID-19 pandemic quickly placed the Spring 2020 track season on hold.

Before OKCPS suspended in-person schooling, C4K had been able to distribute shoes to Simon Greiner athletes at Harding Charter Prep, Northwest Classen and John Marshall. The entire staff at C4K and our partners at Fields & Futures and Red Coyote Running & Fitness were sad to see the majority of the season cancelled and are looking forward to seeing runners again in the Fall.

Since March, we have been working with our program coaches to find ways to make the end of this season fun spite of restrictions and cancellations. Luckily, our friends at Red Coyote Running & Fitness provided an exciting virtual opportunity this past week! Each of our Simon Greiner coaches and their athletes were invited to join in on Red Coyote’s weekly Pack Pint Run Virtual Meeting on Thursday, May 21st for a Q&A with pro runner Sinclaire Johnson!

Sinclaire Johnson is a formidable runner and competitor who started her running career at Oklahoma State University! She is the only woman to break both 4:04 in the 1500m and 2:01 in the 800m as a collegiate athlete. She ranks as the 3rd fastest collegiate woman of all time at the 1500m distance. She also won the 2019 Outdoor NCAA 1500m title as a junior in a meet record of 4:05.98 and just joined the Bowerman Track Club.

With that much experience, Johnson had plenty of wisdom to give our young runners as well as the assembled Red Coyote Pack Pint members. They talked about her favorite running events, her training tips and much more! C4K wants to thank Jon & Burke Beck for their partnership throughout this program and for allowing these students to take part in this special virtual event!
