C4K Helps YMCA Athletes Gear Up for New Youth Sports Program

Earlier this month, C4K was honored to help the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City kick-off their new partnership serving 3rd and 4th graders attending Oklahoma City Public Schools. The program, which had been put on hold for almost a year due to COVID-19 restrictions, had their first games on Easter Weekend as 10 teams took to soccer fields across the city.

C4K was on hand to equip 300 players with brand new soccer cleats! We even had Varsity Board members there to help each kid try on the shoes and make sure they fit. The excitement among the athletes was electric that morning as the kids got ready to take the field and play for the first time with their teams.

“The new YMCA OKCPS Elementary Sports Program is an amazing opportunity for some of our city’s youngest athletes to get in the game and find a sport they love,” Allyson Meyer, Director of Operations at C4K, explained. “By getting these kids involved in sports and an active lifestyle earlier we are giving them more opportunities to learn, grow and be a part of a team."

Next Fall, C4K will be back equipping even more kids through this exciting new program. In addition to soccer, next Fall will see volleyball, flag football, cheer and cross country teams also hitting the field and court. C4K can’t wait to support these athletes!

A huge thank you to every volunteer who joined us for this event and to the YMCA for their partnership! Events like these show just how much of an impact can be made when people work together. See more photos from this month’s distribution below!
