HKP19 Illustrates the Power of Sports

C4K's Board of Directors are proud to announce that our fifth annual Help Kids Play Benefit 2019 was a huge success! This year's luncheon was a fantastic celebration of how sports can keep kids on the court, on the field and on the right track to reach their full potential. This year's event drew nearly 400 guests to the Skirvin Grand Ballroom, making this the fifth sold-out event in a row! HKP is our biggest fundraiser of the year and makes a huge impact on our ability to equip and empower kids across our state. This year was no different - raising over $120,000 for C4K Programming!

One of the best parts of this year's program was the "Power of Sports" panel led by Jenni Carlson from the Oklahoman. This year's event committee's biggest goal was to pack this year's program full of student and coach voices. They thought that our guests and friends would be most impacted if we let these incredible individuals speak for themselves.

We were also excited to honor several important partnerships and individuals during our program, highlighting the many different ways to make an impact on the community. Board members A Jaye Johnson, Liz McLaughlin and Susan Shields received their 5 Year Board Service Award - commemorating 5 years of equipping and empowering kids with C4K.

The Sigma Nu fraternity from Oklahoma State was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award for their amazing work for C4K during their Temple Classic Fundraiser, which raised over $25,000 for our mission. Several Sigma Nu members that made this amazing event happen were able to attend the event and accept the award.

Finally, we welcomed Kari Watkins and Mikayla Darden from The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum to award them the C4K Hall of Fame Award. Our partnership with them during the OKC Marathon and Kids Marathon made a HUGE impact on Santa Fe South Elementary School and their swiftly growing Running Club. Their support helped us equip 175 children with brand new shoes!

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, including but not limited to our amazing co-chairs Mike McDonald & Kim O'Connor, the entire HKP19 event committee, our panelists and student greeters and all our volunteers!
