C4K Invites You to Save It For a Sunny Day!

During this time of social distancing due to COVID-19, many people are spending more time at home and with their families. No matter your age, this is a great time to gather item donations for your local non-profits. Our community’s most vulnerable are in need of non-profit services more than ever before. By safely collecting donations of sports equipment, clothing and household items, you are ensuring that organizations are prepared to meet that need as soon as we are able to gather again.

C4K encourages you to chip in by creating your own donation station in your home! Here’s how to get involved:

1. Set aside an area in your garage or house as your Donation Station.

2. Go through your closets and storage areas – what do you have that could be donated to someone in need? While C4K accepts sports equipment and workout gear, you could also set aside regular clothing and household items for a shelter or other agency. Food pantries also need shelf-stable donations for food insecure Oklahomans.

3. Take a photo of your family posing with your set-aside donations, tag C4K on social media and use our hashtag #SaveItForASunnyDay to share your project with others! Not on social media? Just email your photos to info@cleatsforkids.org! We want to see what you’ve been up to.

4. When COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, deliver your donations to your chosen nonprofits!

Oklahomans are a resilient and compassionate bunch – that’s why the Oklahoma Standard exists. We think this activity is a great way to get people of all ages plugged into the idea of giving back. It’s also a fun way to accomplish something TOGETHER during this uncertain time. After all, distance doesn’t mean isolation!
